about

I recorded and produced this album at Vogville Studio in Port Coquitlam, as well as in my bedroom closet. (I squeezed in there, it’s amazing I even fit in there now that I think back on it!!) It took me about a year from starting the process to finishing the album. I love the whole process of making a record. We are all very proud of this album.

Originally, there were going to be soundscapes by my friend Jessica Lemes Da Silva in between the songs, but they didn’t make it on. I’m considering posting some of them here on the website later, if there is interest. There was also a song, ‘Coming back to you’, that didn’t make it on. Sometime I may post that one on here too.

The artwork was made by the wonderful Vancouver-based artist Kate Zisman. She has also made the artwork for albums by Corbin Murdoch and Headwater.

The poster inside was painted by my wonderful friend from Malmoe, Sweden, Sara Thulin. (This poster is only included in the first 1000 copies. )

Track Name: Ballad of Sherri
There’s something about trains
And the way they trek on down
Especially the ones
That are heading out of town

So Sherri got her bags
And said come on let’s go
I’m tired of the pace here
Let’s head on down the road

ladida.....

‘Cause there we can do whatever we want to do
We can look at the stars or just listen to the
Beating of our hearts

latida....

So we said farewell and adieu
To the crows and all their foes
They said another two leaving oh well
That’s the way it goes

So we jumped onto a boxcar
And we held each-other close
And we wondered what would happen
We had nothing left to lose I suppose

We should go and try to find the Prime Minister
And ask him one or two things that are on our minds
Like how come not everyone should fall in love
and how come our rent is so expensive and all our neighbors are stressed out

Ladida........

There’s something about trains
And the way they trek on down
Especially the one’s
That are heading out of town
Track Name: Ramblin'
I’ve been ramblin’ all my life so come on baby, ramble with me now
ramble with me now
I’ve been ramblin’ all my life so come on baby, ramble with me now
ramble with me now

I don’t want to be alone anymore
I don’t want to be alone anymore
I’ve been ramblin’ alone all my life

I’ve been singing all my life, so come on baby, sing it with me now
sing with me now
I’ve been singing all my life, so come on baby, sing it with me now
sing with me now

I don’t want to be alone anymore
I don’t want to be alone anymore
I’ve been singing alone all my life

I don’t want to be alone anymore
I don’t want to be alone anymore
I’ve been ramblin’ alone all my life
Track Name: Cry Wolf
How am I supposed to believe you, you cry wolf from morning to the evening
oh oh oh, oh you’ve got to let it go
How can I believe what you say is true when you go out and prove you don’t say what you do, o o oooh ooh you’ve got to see it through

But oh, do you have love on your side?
Oh, do you have love tucked down in your sleeve ?
Oh do you have love on your side?
love will save you

but how am I supposed to believe you when you cry wolf from morning to the evening?
oh oh oh, oh you’ve got to let it go
Oh I know that you don’t know what to do when the pain in your heart gets too much for you
oh, and to tame the ocean seems impossible too

But oh, do you have love on your side?
Oh, do you have love tucked down in your sleeve ?
Oh do you have love on your side?
love will save you
Track Name: Across the Atlantic
I’m home once again in this cold Nordic town
and it feels very different now that I have time to calm down
the trees aren’t as tall here and the plates aren’t as grand
but today it’s gorgeous in this cold, still land

And I wish I could tell you what I’m going through
I’m peeling back layers, and I keep coming to you
I might be too far away, and you might be too hurt
but I want you to know there’s a lot that I’ve learned

It’s good to be home here and it’s good to see friends
and I love to bike through the familiar bends
But there’s also a sadness I only reach in these parts
it could probably break the strongest of hearts

There are things I would tell you if you were here in this state
But you’re across the Atlantic, and it might be too late
I’d tell you the sky here sometimes looks like your eyes
and my heart is a race-car when I look to the skies

I’d tell you the leaves whisper your name
and there’s a scent of you in the cool evening rain
There are silent recitals of poems about you
and of the seven heartbreaks that I put you through

But when I look up, the houses are tall
everything’s behind something, this town’s built on walls
The streets are all empty, there’s a wind from the shore
I can hear the cold chill from behind the closed doors

And I wish I could tell you to come here to me
and some how you’d appear from across the sea
The trees would be waiting in their winter gowns
here in this cold and beloved hometown.
Track Name: I've got your back
I’ve got your back, you know I do
There’s nowhere I’d want to be except here with you
You’ve got passion, I’ve got your back
When Sunday night’s approaching and it’s getting colder
The weight storms in like you’re ten years older
You’re beautiful, I’ve got your back

Through all the grey, the concrete, the dizzy,
The passive, the watchers, the laid back, the busy
Nothing can stop me now, I’ve got your back

And when you’re scared, not feeling strong,
The city’s overwhelming you, you don’t want to be alone,
I’ll be there, baby I’ve got your back
And when you’re traveling to foreign lands
And you need someone there to hold your hand
You can count on me, baby I’ve got your back

And when the demon comes and you’re wondering if I’m really there
Just thing yes yes yes I’m there
I don't ever want to leave you, I've got your back

Through all of the grey, the concrete, the dizzy,
The passive, the watchers, the laid back, the busy
I don't ever want to leave you, I’ve got your back
Track Name: Hundred dollar Bills
There are hundred dollar bills that we never see
there are hysterical people on TV
I wonder where my money went, wonder about next month
Living ain’t exactly free

And I for one can’t wait to get out of this race
I for one can’t wait to get back in that river again

There are corpses in the fields found buried
a couple of hours from here
I can hear them crying from heaven
their songs live everywhere

And I for one believe we can make a better place
I for one can’t wait to get back in that river again
Can’t wait to get back……

I light a candle for the dreamers and for the restless with no going back
I sing my songs for the believers, who aren’t buckled down and strapped…..

There are hundred dollar bills that we never see
there are hysterical people on TV
Track Name: Biggest Mistake
Oh when I fell, flourescent lights
you swore to god that you were right
our fear is our biggest mistake
the biggest mistake I’ve made

Oh I remember when I could hear again
That November, four years ago to the day
four years ago to the day

when my heart got a reason. my soul got bright eyes
I could love you again, I could love you again
oh I swear my darling I’ll never go back there again

When you took my bare hands
birds on the street picked in the sand
you said why don’t they just fly away
It’s the biggest mistake they made
Track Name: I've got sorrow
oh there’s something I forgot, so I’ll tell you slow
that I’ve got sorrow in my heart,
I thought that you should know

I will laugh so loud, I will sing and play
but I’ve got sorrow in my heart, it’ll always be that way
I’ve got sorrow in my heart, it’ll always be that way

oh the year I was born a bird flew away
I heard there was a storm, the worst one of its day
oh so I’ve got sorrow in my heart, it’ll always be that way
I’ve got sorrow in my heart, it’ll always be that way

Oh my darling my dear, get up from the bed
I will wisper to you slow
I will wisper to you slow
that I’ve got sorrow in my heart,
and I thought that you should know.
Track Name: Crow's Lament
When I get high up enough that the sky almost falls down on me
and all the birds fly around, checkin’ out the ground
there’s nowhere I’d rather be

I could go to Sweden or Mexico but isn’t it the same everywhere?
and who would pick flowers for my lover
if I wasn’t here?

But there’s just one thing that I’ve been wondering
as I’m flying up above: where do we all go to rest when our days are done?

Where do the birds go to die?
I once saw one under a tree
I never saw one fall down from the sky
When I go I hope you’ll be there with me

Oh when I get down low enough that the earth is all I see
and I can feel the warmth surrounding me
There’s nowhere I’d rather be

I could go to Paris or Istanbul, but isn’t it the same over there?
And who would dance with my lover in the rain
if I wasn’t here?

But there’s just one thing that I’ve been wondering
as I’m flying up above: where do we all go to rest when our days are done?

Where do the birds go to die?
I once saw one under a tree
I never saw one fall down from the sky
When I go I hope you’ll be there with me
Track Name: Goodbye Julie
Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would
Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would.

The train is still rolling down the track
And I keep on moving too
But some things in life we just can’t forget
So I keep on moving through the years
I keep on moving through the years
Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would
Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would.

The last time I talked to you was on that Valentine’s day
You called me to tell me to go away
But somethings in life we just can’t forget
So I keep on moving through the years
I keep on moving through the years

Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would
Goodbye Julie, it’s time I leave for good
You always said I would.
