Ballad of Sherri

from Across the Atlantic by Sarah MacDougall

/

about

I often have a desire to escape from the big city, and also the conformity of society. This song is about that escape.

lyrics

There’s something about trains
And the way they trek on down
Especially the ones
That are heading out of town

So Sherri got her bags
And said come on let’s go
I’m tired of the pace here
Let’s head on down the road

ladida.....

‘Cause there we can do whatever we want to do
We can look at the stars or just listen to the
Beating of our hearts

latida....

So we said farewell and adieu
To the crows and all their foes
They said another two leaving oh well
That’s the way it goes

So we jumped onto a boxcar
And we held each-other close
And we wondered what would happen
We had nothing left to lose I suppose

We should go and try to find the Prime Minister
And ask him one or two things that are on our minds
Like how come not everyone should fall in love
and how come our rent is so expensive and all our neighbors are stressed out

Ladida........

There’s something about trains
And the way they trek on down
Especially the one’s
That are heading out of town
